A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
One hundred percent of students starting in September have the opportunity to attend the Camosun College Welcome Back "CamFestival" which included sustainability. In 2014, the Office of Environmental Sustainability had an interactive spin wheel; students spun the wheel and were asked a question about sustainability at the college, for participating they received a reusable coffee mug. Also available was information about waste diversion, alternative transportation and the College Sustainability Plan. In addition through the Camosun College Student Society “Camosun Students for Environmental Awareness” and their Sustainability Director host a “Sustainability Day” every March at the Lansdowne Campus. Information is available from across the College Community including; Environmental Technology Program, Recycling and Waste Diversion through Facilities Services and The Office of Sustainability. The greater community is invited as well; past informational booths have come from the Compost Education Centre, Capital Regional District, The Green Party, BC Hydro, Local Farming Initiatives and more. As opportunities arise The Office of Sustainability attend special program specific student orientations.
