The survey is administered at the end of the Kill-a-Watt competition each January to all residence hall students (See EN-1 for more information on Kill-a-Watt.)
The survey assesses the success of the Kill-a-Watt program in influencing and changing behaviors, specifically geared toward environmental stewardship. It also assesses understanding the connection between faith and creation care, while gauging student interest and knowledge of sustainability topics.
Students are surveyed during their first year in the residence halls and also in their 2nd year.

A brief description of how representative samples were reached (if applicable) and how the cultural assessment is administered:
The students from each residence hall on campus were emailed the survey and asked to complete. The survey was also attached in campus-wide email news.

OVERALL:
72% agreed that they enjoyed the KAW competition (4.14)
72% agreed that KAW helped the better understand sustainability (3.94)
47% agreed that KAW helped them better understand faith/stewardship connections (3.47)
81% agreed that KAW helped them reflect on how lifestyle affects others (4.14)
39% agreed that KAW led them to change an aspect of their lifestyle (3.81)
86% agreed that they were planning on continuing to strive towards environmental sustainability (4.56)
72% plan on continuing at least one KAW lifestyle challenge during the semester
Most common commitment to continue were those related to meat consumption (42%), then light/energy use (38%), water use (13%), and the 3 Rs (7%)
