Total floor area of building space:
2,210,347 Square feet

O+M Certified Space

Building space must be certified under a rating system focusing on the operations and maintenance of existing buildings (e.g. LEED O+M) to count as certified space for this credit. Sustainability in new construction and major renovation projects (e.g. LEED BD+C certification) is covered in the Building Design and Construction credit.

Floor area of building space that is certified at each level under a green building rating system for the operations and maintenance of existing buildings used by an Established Green Building Council:
Certified Floor Area
LEED O+M Platinum or the highest achievable level under another GBC rating system 0 Square feet
LEED O+M Gold or the 2nd highest level under another 4- or 5-tier GBC rating system 0 Square feet
Certified at mid-level under a 3- or 5-tier GBC rating system (e.g. BREEAM-In Use, CASBEE for Existing Buildings, DGNB, Green Star Performance) 0 Square feet
LEED O+M Silver or at a step above minimum level under another 4 -or 5–tier GBC rating system 0 Square feet
LEED O+M Certified or certified at minimum level under another GBC rating system 0 Square feet

Floor area of building space that is certified under a non-GBC rating system for the operations and maintenance of existing buildings, e.g. BOMA BESt, Green Globes CIEB:
34,595 Square feet

Percentage of building space certified under a green building rating system for the operations and maintenance of existing buildings:
1.57

If reporting certified space, provide:

A brief description of the green building rating system(s) used and/or a list or sample of certified buildings and ratings:
The Bunker Interpretive center (5305 ft^2) was certified with LEED Gold rating in 2005. Find more information here: https://calvin.edu/directory/places/bunker-interpretive-center . The Prince Lodging center (34,595 ft^2) received Green Lodging Michigan Steward Certification in 2010. This (steward) is the second-highest tier in this award, second only to "Leader." See https://calvin.edu/dotAsset/f17c3ed9-508e-44ff-b7c1-39faf56d5166 for the press release on the certification and https://www.michigan.gov/documents/CIS_EO_GLM_Application_154189_7.pdf for the program itself. Note from 4.26.19 (JW): Bunker is certified for Construction, but not for O+M, so cannot count in above category. Prince Lodging was certified with Green Lodging Michigan, which is not a certified Green Building Council, so it too cannot count in above category.

If reporting uncertified space, provide the following:

Uncertified Space

Indoor Air Quality Management

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published indoor air quality (IAQ) management policy or protocol? (0-100):
100

A copy of the IAQ management policy or protocol:
---

The website URL where the IAQ policy/protocol may be found:

Green Cleaning

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published green cleaning policy, program or contract ? (0-100):
0

A copy or the green cleaning policy:
---

A brief description of how green cleaning is incorporated into cleaning contracts:
---

Energy Management and Benchmarking

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with an energy management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
0

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:
CERF (Calvin Energy Recovery Fund) implements and tracks their energy savings projects around the campus. More information can be found at: https://calvin.edu/support/energy/images/CERFQuarter3Report2018.pdf?language_id=1 (Projects that were included in this calculation: North Hall, TNT Center, Hoogenboom, Meeter Center per advice from CERF Intern)

Water Management and Benchmarking

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a water management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
0

A brief description of the water management or benchmarking program:
CERF implemented a water savings project with low-flow shower heads. Space that was included in this calculation (per advice from CERF intern) was the sum of all dorm room space with a newly implemented shower head. See more information at https://calvin.edu/support/energy/images/CERFQuarter3Report2018.pdf?language_id=1 Prince Lodging also manages water use in all of its hotel rooms, but that space is certified as "green" and thus cannot be counted in this category.

Optional Fields

Additional documentation to support the submission:
---

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Bunker Interpretive Center was certified LEED Gold in 2005. More info at: https://calvin.edu/directory/places/bunker-interpretive-center Prince Lodging certified in 2010: see https://calvin.edu/dotAsset/f17c3ed9-508e-44ff-b7c1-39faf56d5166 Information on Indoor Air Quality Management came from Jennifer Ambrose, Environmental Health & Safety Officer. Calvin does not currently implement a Green Cleaning strategy or policy. Energy Management and Water Management programs are under CERF (Calvin Energy Recovery Fund) and the spaces highlighted by these programs are monitored and/or analyzed for energy / water savings long-term. See more at : https://calvin.edu/support/energy/ Water management came partly from 370 dorm spaces on campus, in which low-flow shower heads are used to manage water more sustainably. Energy management came from areas on campus listed above. Note from 4.26.19: As of now, CERF cannot count for energy and water benchmarking, because we do not have evidence and language that can support that CERF counts as of now. Working on 4.26.19 to provide that evidence and language, because we believe it may exist.
