Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Number of divisions comes from p. 285 of the 15-16 Calvin College Academic Catalog. Number of departments comes from AY 2017-18 data calculated by Melisa Hubka, the Assistant Registrar. (note added 10.15.2018 by BRH). FTE & Headcount of staff and faculty is from IPEDS Human Resources 2017-18 survey. Faculty FTE = 302. There are 387 total faculty (instructional staff), of which 259 are Full-time and 128 are Part-time. Staff FTE = 447. There are 491 total staff (non-instructional staff), of which 425 are full-time and 66 are part-time. Student Headcount & FTE counts are from 12-month Enrollment IPEDS Survey (submitted in fall of 2018 to report total unduplicated 12-month enrollments for 2017-18 academic year.) Since the IPEDS 12 Month Enrollment Survey is not usually done until mid-October, please wait to enter and submit this data for the prior year until the final data can be used from this submitted IPEDS survey. NOTE: In 2015 STARS report, we used Fall 2014 Day 10 report which had fewer students. This may cause a false improvement in our score because this year, and following, will have a larger denominator (student count). All future STARS reports should use IPEDS 12 month enrollment report for student counts as well as Humnan Resources Survey submitted the prior spring for Staff/Faculty counts. Residential students is from "Enrollment by Residence Hall" internal report (provided by Assoc. Director of Enrollment Research). These numbers exclude students living in Project Neighborhood houses. (Fall 2014 was 2,269) Fall 2015 is: 2,189 Fall 2016 was 2,182 Fall 2017 was 2,101 Non-credit students: estimate based on history. Counts for residential employees are obtained from Director of Resident Life (Becki Levad Simpson). These numbers do include the college president (1 employee and 1 family member) and the Observatory house (1 employee and 5 family members). Distance Learning: Taken from IPEDs Fall Enrollment Survey, Fall Enrollment by Distance Education. Ugrad: 1 students took exclusively UG distance courses in Fall 2017 at 3 credits = .25 FTE UG. Graduate: 19 graduate students took distance courses. 19 * 3 (credits) / 9 (credits to be fulltime graduate) = 6.3. .25 + 6.3 = 6.6 FTE exclusively distance learners.
