Calvin encourages staff and faculty to participate/mentor/facilitate service-learning initiatives. Calvin considers this as part of an employee's work that serves the college as well as the community. Staff do not have to use vacation time to participate. Some departments have organized half-day volunteer opportunities for their teams.

The # of students engaged in community service comes from the Annual Report for AY 17-18 from the Center for Community Engagement and Global Learning: Dividing "Total hours by project type" by "Average number of hours/service-learner." Document is not yet published on the website, but is available per request.
