The President’s Commission on Diversity and Inclusion (PCDI) was established to develop a comprehensive three-to five-year Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan with a specified timeline for milestone achievement of measurable outcomes and visible results. The process for development of the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan includes the following elements:
1. Affirm the University’s Diversity Statement, and align the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan with the University Strategic Plan. 2. Develop a campus-wide implementation plan that includes activities, education, communication, feedback, and ongoing involvement including: creating and fostering a diverse and inclusive campus climate supportive of students, faculty, staff and administrators; assessing and ensuring that the campus’ curriculum and programs acknowledge and support diversity and inclusion; assessing, recruiting and retaining a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and administrators; and assessing and supporting diverse external and community advisory boards and other partnerships. 4. Secure campus-wide affirmation for the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, monitor its implementation, and begin progress reporting.
The Warrior Cross Cultural Center (WCCC) was established through a collective vision of students who advocated for a space where critical dialogue and action take place to dismantle racial, social and cultural systems of oppression. We work to foster critical consciousness by developing intentional programs aimed at liberating the voices of marginalized students and the campus community. The Warrior Cross Cultural Center empowers transformative learning by using a student-centered approach that promotes and validates intersectional identities and experiences. This kind of work is foundational to the practice of Student Affairs, helping students to succeed in becoming global citizens.

Stan State's Professional Development program offers a variety of online programs that support employee development across many areas of learning. There is a toolkit focused on Diversity and Inclusion available to all staff, which includes a library of learning through courses, webcasts, videos, and articles with the goal of increasing understanding of diversity and inclusion including how to create inclusivity, recognize biases, and learn cultural competence. https://www.csustan.edu/hr/diversity-inclusion-toolkit
The California State University System offers a system-wide learning platform that is available to participating campuses focused on cross-campus collaboration. Classes offered recently include: Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity 101; Ableism 101; Gender Identity and Pronoun Use; Exposing Hidden Bias; Avoiding Bias in Hiring; Cultural Competence and Humility.
All staff are required to attend training focused on discrimination prevention and gender equity annually, as part of compliance training modules.

This two-part workshop series will be facilitated over Zoom by Drs. Betsy Eudey and Shradha Tibrewal, with contributions from Dr. Mary Roaf. In Part 1: “Creating Brave Spaces”, faculty will learn to define “brave spaces” and recognize their importance in promoting open dialogue and learning opportunities. Faculty will engage in role-playing exercises and discuss different scenarios to practice what they learned.
Transforming Hispanic-Serving Institutions for Equity and Justice (2023)
Join us in a reflection and discussion of Transforming Hispanic-Serving Institutions for Equity and Justice using Dr. Garcia’s new book. Facilitated by Betsy Eudey, Carolina Alfaro, and Shradha Tibrewal.

Certificate in Inclusive Teaching
This program encourages faculty to examine their beliefs about diversity and its influence on higher education. Faculty will come to understand and develop a sensitivity for diversity and inclusion that will allow them to create intentionally inclusive classrooms and workspaces on campus and online. Students must complete at least 3 units of coursework that addresses multicultural, ethnic studies, gender, or nonwestern cultures issues. Commencing with the 2021-22 catalog year, the California State University requires, as an undergraduate graduation requirement, the completion of, at minimum, one three- unit course in ethnic studies.
