Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Summer Energy Conservation
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
Stan State implemented a summer energy conservation program to reduce energy costs, shifting peak energy use of all facilities to earlier off-peak hours. The local climate is hot and arid, which puts a drain on local energy sources during the summer months, particularly in the late afternoon. By shifting office working hours to 7:30am-4pm during the peak summer months, Stan State reduces the amount of power required during peak usage hours. Use of water and irrigation pumps are run in the morning hours, during off-peak times to further conserve.
