The Sustainability Manager has reached out far and wide across the campus to hire a diverse set of students. Efforts include reaching out to different student centers on campus (Cross Cultural, Latinx, Gender Equity Center, Black Student Center, Pride Center). In addition, recruitment outside of the environmental studies major is attempted as well.

A brief description of the DEI trainings for sustainability employees:
Students and staff are required to take at least 1 DEI training per year. This can include: LGBTQIA Safe Zone Training, Vet Net Training, Dreamers Training

A brief description of events, projects, or initiatives during the previous year developed in collaboration with the DEI office/program and/or organizations that support underrepresented groups on campus:
The Sustainability Program and the Office of Inclusive Excellence have been collaborating on a variety of efforts together. These include creating a program called Inclusive Sustainability. This is a transformational framework that combines our work. We also have created an Environmental Justice Internship program.
In addition, we have developed a program called the Planet Mentorship Program. We have raised almost $100,000 for this program where we connect DEI, social justice, sustainability and art.

Yes

The Sustainability Advisory Committee is made up of a variety of individuals including the Deputy Diversity Officer for the campus. Their responsibility is DEI and social justice focused. In addition, we have representation from our Student Life office, which oversees all of our cultural and diversity centers on campus.
