A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

Established in Fall 2023, the mission of the Zero Waste Trash Talkers Program is to educate the campus community about our goal to reach zero waste by 2025. This program is staffed by peer educators through our CSUSM Service Learning Students and volunteers who are trained in proper waste-sorting practices. Our student educators provide guidance to campus community members, specifically students on how to properly sort their waste. This peer-to-peer program has a high level of engagement with a focus on educating and discussing waste sorting.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):

While our target audience is all students who attend CSUSM, our student educators program reaches a much wider audience which includes all campus community members and visitors. Our students are stationed at various high-traffic areas, and communal eating areas where they can engage with everyone.

Through large and small events, tabling and "daily rounds" the ambassadors are able to engage our students in educating them about cigarette litter, our smoking policy and how to get involved.
