The Sustainability Advisory Committee began in 2013, with the goal of developing the sustainability master plan. At the completion of the plan, the committee has moved into implementation of the plan and meets quarterly to discuss sustainability activities, progress on goals and updates from the the Sustainability Working Groups- which are sub-groups to the larger advisory committee. These smaller working groups work on specific areas - including Zero Waste, Engaging the Campus Community and Local Sustainable Food and Transportation.

A brief description of each sustainability office:
The Sustainability Manager is part of Safety, Risk and Sustainability. She manages all sustainability efforts including the Sustainability Master Plan, Engagement strategies, integrating sustainability into the curriculum and communication and marketing.
In addition, the Energy Management and Utilities Department manages all of our energy and recycling efforts, along with other utilities management. This department has 2 staff working on sustainability efforts (the director and the recycling coordinator).

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
The Sustainability program has received 3 Campus as a Living Lab grants, assisted in the campus winning 3 awards (2 California based awards and 1 national CHESMA award). In addition, the recognition of the program across campus has been heightened with the onset of the sustainability manager (This position has only been on campus for 2 years). Numerous events, workshops and activities have also taken place, such as a renewed Earth Day (week) celebration, coverage of sustainability in the campus newspaper and Office of Communications news, and overall the campus is striving to become more sustainable.
