The Alliance is comprised of 10 different partnerships between CSUSM and 10 local school districts. The partnerships involve a written agreement in which the K-12 districts provide their students with a rigorous program of study and meaningful learning experiences and the university provides a guarantee of enrollment and a compendium of experiences designed to support college perseverance and success. CSUSM employs both a full-time staff as well as a part-time faculty director to lead The Alliance. Additionally, the university provides workshops and event support to each partner district. Underrepresented groups/vulnerable populations are engaged in strategic planning, decision-making, implementation and review through the Alliance Ambassadors program. Ambassadors are Alliance students who have been tapped to provide their perspective in the planning and implementation of The Alliance. They are regularly consulted on strategic direction, help with implementation of workshops and event, and are part of the Advisory Council.
