Sac State uses the Injury and Illness Prevention Management System (IIPP) which is a California state requirement. This system sets guidelines for each employee to follow to ensure a safe workplace. This includes a variety of trainings to educate employees on safety practices as well as instruction on how to report any incidents.

A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :
Data related to work-related injury or ill health is tracked by a Third Party Administrator (TPA), Sedgwick CMS. Determining what is recordable is based on the OSHA guidelines: it's recordable if the incident results in death, days away from work, restricted work or transfer to another job, medical treatment beyond first aid, or loss of consciousness.
