Baseline year energy consumption
STARS 2.2 requires electricity data in kilowatt-hours (kWh). If a baseline has already been established in a previous version of STARS and the institution wishes to continue using it, the electricity data must be re-entered in kWh. To convert existing electricity figures from MMBtu to kWh, simply multiply by 293.07107 MMBtu/kWh.

The building energy consumption baseline is 1990, this was adopted because this is the date that is being used for our Green House Gas Inventory, Climate Action Plan as well as various CSU system wide and state wide goals.

The small difference between gross floor area of building space (performance year) and the gross floor area of building space reported in PRE-4 is because these numbers refer to different years. 2019 was selected as the performance because it was the most recent calendar year representative of normal operations (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Figures in PRE-4 reflect the 2020 year, and include some additionally-constructed building space.
