A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
Trash Talkers is a virtual program geared towards educating students on how to properly dispose of their waste on campus. CSUN's Associated Students Sustainability Department has created a series of educational videos that focus on various forms of waste and how they should be responsibly disposed of. Some examples of specific topics touched on include e-waste, plastics, clothing/textiles, and recyclables. These videos inform students about the environmental impacts of waste, and the different ways that they can reduce their waste footprint. The series is ongoing and new videos are produced and posted each semester.
Student staff members from the AS Sustainability Department are trained by the Sustainability Coordinator on which waste-related topics are most important to cover in the Trash Talkers series. Using data gathered from the sustainability entities on campus, the content is developed to raise awareness about the items that are most commonly incorrectly disposed of. Using the current social media trends, the videos are produced in a fun and engaging way which leaves a lasting impact on viewers.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The target audience for the Trash Talkers program is the entire student body, but for practical purposes, its engagement focuses on students who live near and around campus. This is because the content of the videos is geared towards waste management in the San Fernando Valley, abiding by the area's policies and laws.

A brief description of the student educators program (2nd program):
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to bring bottles or jars to the farmers market to refill on items such as free hand soap, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. Additionally, clothing repairs are offered by professionals from a local non-profit, Quilting for the Community. They provide basic repair services for clothing items and garments and collect excess, gently used, fabric. This service is offered six times per academic year (three times each semester) and is offered to all enrolled students.
Student staff members from the AS Sustainability Department conceptualize and produce the event series. Each student event lead brings a new theme to the Refill & Repair events. Some themes that have been used in the past include: Combatting Eco-Anxiety: A Soundbath Meditation, Sustainable Skincare Products, & Green Your Routine. This allows for a creative approach and focus on various topics, while still providing the basic refill and repair services on a regular basis. During the events, student staff members check in attendees, while promoting the services and other resources offered by AS Sustainability.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (2nd program):
Refill & Repair is offered to all students, but it specifically targets students who want to save money on common household products, in addition to upkeeping their favorite clothing pieces. Students have the opportunity to ask professionals about tips and tricks to help them care for their items and extend the lifecycle of their wardrobe. This program reaches students who regularly attend the weekly farmers markets, in addition to those who have an interest in sustainable fashion and combatting plastic waste.

A brief description of the student educators program (3rd program):
Thursday Thrift brings together various campus entities to create a one stop shop for all things thrifting. It essentially serves as a mobile thrift store pop-up for students, staff, and faculty to look forward to and participate in. This event promotes sustainability, giving clothes and items a second life while preventing textile waste from going into landfills. It also serves as a space for different clubs and organizations to come together through sustainable fashion. To add - sustainable snacks and beverages are given out for free during Thursday Thrift events to provide students with healthy and nourishing food as they take a break between classes.
Student staff members from the AS Sustainability Department work with the Sustainability Coordinator to coordinate and execute the Thursday Thrift events. Student employees reach out to CSUN clubs and organizations who may want to host a clothing pop-up at the event. Additionally, they work the check-in table, assist with clothing organization, and educate attendees on the importance of concious consumption.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (3rd program):
The target audience is students who are in search of new clothing, but don't want to pay a high price and still want to consider sustainability. This event consistently invites new student run organizations to join the movement and facilitate their own clothing pop ups at the venue. The Environmental Club, Sustainable Fashion Club, In the Loop (a crocheting club), and the KPop Club are a few groups that have participated in the past.
In response to the student demand for clothing pop-ups and second-hand shopping on campus, "Thursday Thrift" is a series of events aimed at providing a space for various organizations and clubs to host clothing swaps or pop-ups on a designated day. This offers students a sustainable resource and provides a space for student organizations to showcase their practices and foster a community centered around sustainable practices.
