In 2020, Energy & Sustainability Coordinator Nikhil Schneider presented at both the AASHE and California Higher Education Sustainability Conferences. He discussed greenhouse gas inventory tools, green waste composting, waste infrastructure deployment strategies, and the human impacts of zero waste goals.
Institute for Sustainability Program Analyst Sarah Johnson presented at these same conferences, as well as at the Chico State This Way to Sustainability conference. She presented on Sustainable Menstruation: Making Periods Zero Waste and Accessible to All.

CSUN's Energy & Sustainability Coordinator serves as the CSU representative for the Zero Waste Campus Council, a technical council under the California Resource and Recovery Association. The ZWCC hosts workshops at conferences, as well as monthly "Meet up, Waste down" forums for campus zero waste/sustainability professionals.

LA 100: LA City plan for 100% renewable energy, Austin is the CSUN rep.
CSUN's Director of Energy & Sustainability is the CSUN representative for the LA 100 working group. LA 100 is a study conducted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to determine the feasibility of achieving 100% renewable electricity for the City of Los Angeles by 2045. This working group meets regularly with members of NREL to review continued planning and modeling which will guide the city's energy sourcing decisions moving forward.
