Trash Talkers
A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
Trash Talkers is an interactive educational program geared toward educating students on how to properly dispose of their waste on campus. CSUN's Associated Students created a game that challenges students to properly dispose of their items by presenting them with materials they would encounter when they visit different dining locations on campus. They are asked to sort these sample items into the landfill, recycling, and compost waste streams, and receive feedback and education on which answers are correct, and why. They are also taught about the environmental impacts of waste, and ways they can reduce their waste footprint.
A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The target audience for the Trash Talkers program is the entire student body, but for practical purposes, its engagement focuses on students eating at campus dining locations. These locations generated the largest amount of waste, as well as the most food waste, and serve as a good place to engage students while they are disposing of waste after a meal.
