Research Inventory
Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:
See below for a description of the methodology. The attached inventory includes "Research Faculty" (first worksheet) which identifies 144 faculty whose research was identified as sustainability-related based on a keyword search from abstracts and proposals.
The second sheet titled, "Survey Data" includes additional research identified
based on self-reported data from faculty who responded to a survey sent by the Provost on behalf of the Institute for Sustainability that went to all faculty. This survey included AASHE's definition of sustainability, sustainability challenges, and the Earth Charter and SDG keywords. Twenty additional faculty were identified via this method.

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
A report of all actively funded research projects via Cayuse (grant management software) was used to search for all funded projects of tenured and tenure-track faculty in 2019-2021. The titles and abstracts were searched using keywords identified by the SDG and Earth charter principles utilized in our identification of sustainability-related courses. Titles and Abstracts which included keywords were separated and vetted by an administrator. The faculty members whose research or publications are included on the uploaded spreadsheet and counted in the total were those who passed through these trials.
In addition to this keyword search, a survey was sent to all faculty which asked them to self-identify sustainability research or publications. These results are included separately on the second tab of the uploaded spreadsheet, and they are also included in the final total.
