A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

As part of a broad initiative to assess employee satisfaction, CSUN hired an external service provider (Campus Climate Surveys, LLC) whose expertise is to measure workplace climate. Two surveys were developed, one for faculty and another for staff. The surveys included questions aimed at measuring employee job satisfaction, satisfaction with campus services and perceptions of support, satisfaction with CSUN’s diversity and inclusion goals, and perceptions of safety on campus and in the surrounding community.
In April 2018, the surveys were disseminated to all campus employees, including student employees, and responses were collected online, anonymously. The participation rate by employee type are as follows: Faculty = 16.8%; Staff = 40.9%; Administrators = 55.4%; Student Employees = 67.8%.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):

Results are being analyzed and will be shared in fall 2018 with all departments through the Office of Equity and Diversity. The Chief Diversity Officer will develop a process for addressing issues that are revealed from the workplace satisfaction and climate survey.
