A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
Sustainability at CSUN is represented at all new student orientations (freshman, transfer, graduate student, and international student) in several ways. There are posters throughout the campus tours that are targeted at students to show them where CSUN is with regards to sustainability goals. A video is shown to all incoming students that shows "a day in the life of a Matador". The video features different programs and services CSUN has to offer, including sustainability. Students in the video are seen refilling reusable bottles, riding bikes, turning off lights, and recycling. There are also Resource Fairs for the students to learn about the various departments, clubs, etc. they can get involved with. The Institute for Sustainability tables every day and offers information about what CSUN is doing with sustainability, involvement opportunities, pledges, and provide sustainable giveaway items like reusable utensils and straws.
