CSUN participated in the Great Colleges to Work For program that includes an employee survey designed specifically for higher education. This survey was distributed to a random sample of 600 full time faculty, administrators and staff members. CSUN received responses from Administrators, Faculty, Exempt Staff, Non-exempt Staff and "unspecified".

In order to address any issues that were raised from the evaluation, the university developed a group called Focus on Employees for Success (FES). This group actively works on these issues.
