A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:
CSUMB contracted with Spin beginning in January 2020 to provide an electric scooter-share program on campus. Approximately 200+ scooters were available 24/7, anywhere on campus, to all students, faculty and staff for a low price. This service was temporary withdrawn from campus during the 2020-2021 Academic Year due to the global pandemic and largely remote learning/working status of the campus. In addition, the Otter Cycle Center is a student-run program providing students access to multi-geared road and mountain bikes on a semester loan basis. More than 60 rental bikes are available.

2 Zipcars are available in 2 separate locations. The program offers increased mobility to campus community members throughout the region and wherever Zipcar does business.

Four Level 2 EV charging stations are available to campus residents, commuters and visitors, with 12 parking spaces designated EV charging only.

There are over 500 on-campus units (mostly rental) available to CSUMB employees located in the East Campus Housing Area.

An annual campuswide Fall Travel Survey includes information on transportation programs and incentives for completing the survey. Outreach encouraging sustainable modes of transportation is presented specifically to student government as well as International Students. Bicycle and pedestrian planning is centrally integrated into the Campus Master Plan. Several internal campus roads are closed to private automobiles to provide a safer space for pedestrians and bicyclists. A bicycle counter is installed on one of the primary commute routes into campus to acknowledge those who bicycle.

Services suspended due to the pandemic, but otherwise available include access to the regional transit network at no fare cost to the student and staff rider with their ID card, specific transit lines between housing and academic core areas of campus, and the City of Salinas where many students live, and the e-scooter share program on campus.
