Due to COVID-19, CSUMB’s service learning hours completion requirement was suspended during Spring 2020, resulting in a significant reduction in students’ service hours for the 2019-20 academic year. In spite of this disruption, 3,227 service learning students provided appropriately 53,206 hours of service in the Monterey Bay and Salinas Valley Region. The monetary value of their contribution is $1.6 million, based on the value attributed to this work by the Independent Sector.
