First Campus registered for the Living Community Challenge
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Living Community Challenge is an ambitious program that CSUMB has integrated into its Master Plan. As the first campus registrant CSUMB has submitted is Vision Plan for a Living Community, which incorporates the 9 petals of the Living Community Challenge.
The Living Community Challenge is organized into seven performance areas (Petals). Each performance area has a number of more detailed requirements (Imperatives).
PLACE PETAL
Restoring a healthy interrelationship with nature.
WATER PETAL
Creating developments that operate within the water balance of a given place and climate.
ENERGY PETAL
Relying only on current solar income.
HEALTH & HAPPINESS PETAL
Creating environments that optimize physical and psychological health and well being.
