The campus climate survey was completed in Spring 2015.
The Office of Inclusive Excellence brought in Halualani and Associates, a diversity strategy and analytics firm for higher education institutions, to conduct a “Diversity Mapping” of CSUMB during spring and summer 2014. The Diversity Mapping Project sought to “provide a sense of where the institution has been, where it currently is, and how it has operationalized diversity and inclusive excellence, in both intentional and unintentional ways” (Halualani, Haiker, Lancaster, & Morrison, 2015, p. 2). A description of the Diversity Mapping Project objectives and a brief summary of its findings are listed below. The full report may be downloaded below. To trace all diversity efforts, programs, courses, curricular components, and resource allocations (from January 1, 2010 through June 1, 2014);
To examine all diversity efforts, programs, courses, and curricular components through analytical layers;
To delineate the ACTUAL (not projected or remembered) activities engaged in by California State University, Monterey Bay;
To establish the baseline for where California State University, Monterey Bay is with regard to implementing major diversity efforts across all levels (top-down, bottom-up, and across) and divisions (academic to student to community affairs) at the institution and for all campus constituencies (undergraduate/graduate students, staff, faculty, managers and administrators, community members). This baseline will be used to identify and measure progress via California State University, Monterey Bay and future diversity strategies;
To identify strengths, “leverage points” or current resources, empty zones, and “opportunities” or needed areas of improvement;
To identify potential coordination efforts;
To recommend possible pathways and strategies for action and implementation and next steps
Following the 2014 Diversity Mapping Project, the Campus Climate Survey was done to better understand how CSUMB students, faculty, and staff experience and perceive diversity and inclusion on our campus. Results from both studies will inform an upcoming campus-wide Diversity Plan.

Findings helped develop the Diversity Learning Series - offered each semester. It supported the mandatory training for all staff and faculty that are part of a hiring committee. As well as supported mandatory training fro all incoming students.

Results were shared during information session open to the entire campus, during mandatory section of the Diversity Learning Certificate Training, Academic Senate, Cabinet and all key groups on campus. (Equity and inclusion Committee members each presented to various stakeholders groups).
