A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
From the dozens of partner groups listed on this site, it is clear that CSUMB’s service learning program addresses full-on issues associated with the social justice aspect of sustainability, where our students work with dozens of agencies that address issues of homelessness, education, health care for low-income populations, child abuse, poverty, and many others. Additionally, the environmental aspects of sustainability is addressed through our university’s watershed institute which, among other things, for years has received funding to promote planting days where school-aged children from across the county as well as the public at large engage in native plantings several times per year.
