CSUMB's Undergraduate Research Opportunity Center (UROC) provides our students with funding, support through faculty mentorships, workshops, and support through connections with internships, both on and off campus, to pursue research, the majority of which meets our criterion for sustainability research. A list of students and their associated research internship placements obtained through UROC are provided at the following URL:

A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage faculty research in sustainability:
The CSU Faculty Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (FRSCA) program was established through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Chancellor's Office and the California Faculty Association (CFA). The CSU agreed to budget $2.5 million annually to be divided among all the campuses of the CSU system according to campus Full Time Equivalent Faculty (FTEF). Guidelines requiring a campus-wide competition were developed by the Chancellor's Office, the CSU Academic Senate, and the CFA for the Chancellor's Office funds.
This year the Chancellor's Office allocated $25,192 to CSUMB, based upon faculty FTEF. Faculty may apply for mini-grant funds up to $5000 or one-month summer salary. Awards will be made for projects conducted between Summer 2011 and Fall 2011.
The COAST Faculty Research Incentive Award Program provides support to CSU tenured/tenure-track faculty members to develop and submit full proposals to external funding agencies and organizations for marine and coastal research and educational projects.
