The Student Health Center provides high-quality, affordable health care and health education for the students of Cal State LA to preserve and enhance their potential for academic success and personal development. It also seeks to serve as the primary health resource for the University and health advocate for the campus community.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides confidential and non-judgmental help with personal growth and psychological wellness. CAPS specializes in mental health services which can help you express thoughts and feelings, gain perspective, alleviate emotional symptoms, improve coping skills, and make healthy changes in your life.
President William A. Covino and First Lady, Dr. Debbie Covino, have also created the Mind Matters initiative to provide resources and programs to help students navigate the demands of academic excellence, family responsibilities, and jobs. The goal of Mind Matters is to integrate inner well-being into the framework of University life as a means of supporting student success.
The 2019 Wellness Week explored the 8 Dimensions of Wellness through workshops and activities. Participants learned about how physical, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, social, and spiritual well-being connects to student success.
LifeMatters provides confidential professional assistance to help employees and their family members resolve issues that affect their personal lives and/or the employee’s job performance.
Cal State LA' two main health plan providers, Kaiser and Blue Shield, offer periodic lunchtime workshops for faculty and staff to address a variety of wellness and employee assistance programs, covering such topics as stress management, diet, exercise and other healthy habits.
