Cal State LA won the 2018 CSU Facilities Management Conference Best Practice Award for Energy Retrofit. Cal State LA participates in the LA Better Buildings Challenge (LABBC), a collaborative forum where building owners and managers share best practices and gain recognition for exceptional achievements. The LABBC also offers complimentary personalized advisory services that streamline the process of making performance upgrades that reduce operating costs, enhance tenant comfort, and protect our environment.

Cal State LA works with Savings By Design to receive financial incentives for exceeding Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards by 10% or more in new construction.

A brief description of other collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year:
Cal State LA participates in the 2021 CSU Sustainability Policy update, the Climate & Resilience 2021 Policy Update work group, and the CSU Sustainable Procurement work group. Cal State LA is collaborating with the City of Los Angeles in a campus resilience advisory group to promote and encourage innovative actions that advance physical resilience and social cohesion. Cal State LA can further support the Campus Resilience Challenge by developing strategies that align with, and help strengthen, the actions outlined in the City’s Resilient Los Angeles.
