A brief description of the institution’s community garden:

Since 2014, Grow Beach has been a student-funded organic community garden that allows students, staff, faculty, alumni and the Long Beach community to grow their own edible organic garden. Located at the northwest corner of campus (at Atherton Street and Earl Warren Drive), the garden is comprised 35 raised garden boxes that are available for students, staff and faculty to rent: $25 for students, $50 for staff, faculty, and community members.

Produce grown at the garden is either used by the individual gardeners themselves or donated to the campus food pantry, ASI's Beach Pantry. Grow Beach has also served as a valuable resource to various academic programs that have used it as a tool for student experiential and service learning.

As of early 2020, the garden was temporarily closed and is being relocated to a more central and accessible location for more community engagement.
