Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
CSUF Public Surplus
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
Public Surplus was created in 2019 with unique capabilities specifically for public agencies, making it much more than an auction site. The services CSUF offers to both buyers and sellers is of the highest quality with a strong focus on customer care. Throughout the year, the campus auctions offer surplus goods that would otherwise be destined for the landfill including: electronics, furniture, and office supplies. Proceeds from auction services go back to funding sustainability initiatives.
CSUF has hosted several surplus auctions available to the public. There's a wide variety of items up for auction including vehicles, office supplies, computers, furniture, workout gear, and storage supplies.
All items on the auction block once belonged to a campus department, whether it was Information Technology, Academic Affairs, or the University Police. All of the money that's made from the auctions goes back to the campus fund.
