A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Titan orientation moved to an online format to include virtual modules that have "simulive" sessions and on demand video content prior to students attending their first semester. The simulive is a prerecorded session that can be coupled with a live chat and on-demand video. This platform allows students to have access to campus information with components of engagement through live chat.

A slide presentation to all students at New Student Orientation shows our commitment to sustainability. Students are encouraged to recycle, save energy, minimize waste, reuse water bottles via refill stations on campus. Students are also directed to notify Facilities Management if they see leaking sprinklers or pipes, clogged toilets or a broken water refill station.

On the campus tours, students are introduced to LEED buildings, such as our LEED Platinum residence halls. Students also take a tour of the campus dining hall (Gastronome). Students learn about eating only what they need and not using plastic utensils, trays or straws.
