A brief description of the diversity office:

The Office of Diversity and Equity Programs guides, directs, and assists the administration and the faculty to ensure fair and equal treatment of all individuals in the various institutional processes which affect education and employment by enforcing all federal/state laws and regulations as well as university policies and procedures related to civil rights, affirmative action, and non-discrimination. The office handles civil rights complaints, coordinates faculty recruitment, employee disability management, conflict resolution, and the annual Affirmative Action Plan.

In addition, in the past CSUF established on-going committees such as the President’s Community Minority Affairs Advisory Committee, Affirmative Action Committee, Human Relations Task Force, President’s Taskforce on Hispanic Under-representation, and President’s Taskforce on Untenured Faculty addressing specific issues pertaining to improving intergroup relations, establishing a more diversity student body and campus workforce, under-representation of Latinos in the education pipeline and unmet needs of probationary faculty. Through the efforts of these committees, concerted efforts and initiatives originating in the campus Colleges and administrative Divisions, faculty, administrators, staff and our community partners - CSUF is now recognized nationally for its diversity within the student body. We have ranked in the Top 10 Producers of Minority Students with BA’s for over 10 years and designated as both a Hispanic serving Institution (HSI) and Asian Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AAPI) and the most diverse campus within the CSU System.
Not only have our enrollments increased but more importantly CSUF has integrated the special programs and effective strategies that earlier served to diversify our campus into our mainstream operating units serving the entire University (University Outreach and University Learning Center) and optimized this diversity through unique program funding opportunities available only to campus’ designated as HSI’s, AAPI’s and MSI’s (multi-year multi-million dollar federal grants from Department of Education Title V Programs and TRIO programs as well as NSF).
At CSUF there are numerous offices and working groups which are associated with diversity, inclusion and/or the successful recruitment/retention and graduation of under-served populations:
