A brief description of the program:

The Institution has a centralized management program through the University's waste management/ diversion program. In order to comply with California’s Senate Bill (SB) 1016, the Institution is required to divert at least 50% of its waste from the landfill.

Recent state law AB 341, the "Mandatory Commercial Recycling," the statewide goal included in the Bill aims to divert 75% waste from the landfill by 2020.
