Because our campus is part of the California State University (CSU) system, our employees have access to professional development and training opportunities (including sustainability specific trainings) from our own campus as well as any of our sister campuses. One of the CSU campuses will host a basic training at least once each year. The basic sustainability training covers these topics: the evolution of sustainability; the dynamic definitions of sustainability and how that applies to each of us; and the CSU and state policies that guide our universities. Other trainings that are more specific have covered these topics (separately, not together in a single training): reducing waste in dining facilities; STARS related discussions and trouble shooting; climate action grant partnerships; and many more.
