The Director of Sustainability, or representative, gives a brief overview of campus sustainability at each new staff employee orientation. The orientation includes the campus definition of sustainability, overall sustainability initiatives in the Cal State University system, and more specific campus information related to campus commitments, academics, engagement, buildings, energy, transportation, water, waste, and events.

During "Back to the Bay" the Director of Sustainability gives a presentation to new faculty on sustainability in the curriculum at Cal State East Bay and opportunities for faculty to connect with the Office of Sustainability throughout the year.
