The CSUDH University Sustainability Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the President and is charged with cultivating interest, promoting, and supporting efforts to educate the campus community and institutionalizing sustainability at CSUDH. Equally important, it ensures the university’s ongoing prominence as a sustainability leader in higher education locally, regionally, and nationally.

A brief description of each sustainability office:

The Office of Sustainability is managed by a full-time sustainability manager with support from a full-time Zero Waste Coordinator and a full-time Americorps VISTA member. The office is part of Facilities Services. There are also 8 part-time student interns working for the Office of Sustainability, all of whom are paid through a combination of campus and outside grant funds.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:

Sustainability efforts are spearheaded by the full-time Sustainability Manager with stakeholder support from the campus-wide University Sustainability Committee.

The Sustainability Manager earned the statewide 2019 CSU Sustainability Champion Award at the CA Higher Ed Sustainability Conference (CHESC) and currently serves as the CSU system-wide chair for the Sustainability Officers group. Other accomplishments are listed in the Office of Sustainability's annual report.
