A brief description of the carbon sinks, including vendor, project source, verification program and contract timeframes (as applicable):

CSUDH does not purchase or count carbon offsets towards its greenhouse gas inventory.

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 4,772.05 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 7,328.65 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date June 30, 2021 Jan. 1, 1990
End date July 1, 2022 Dec. 31, 1990

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

Greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for CSU campuses are currently based on percentage reduction from 1990 levels. Therefore, the adopted baseline year for our data is 1990.

Figures needed to determine “Weighted Campus Users”:
Performance year Baseline year
Number of students resident on-site 572 352
Number of employees resident on-site 3 0
Number of other individuals resident on-site 0 0
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 13,679 7,158.80
Full-time equivalent of employees 1,407.60 963
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 2,116 0
Weighted Campus Users 9,871.70 6,179.35

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 0.48 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 1.19 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:
59.24

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
1,491,324 Gross square feet

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:
Floor area
Laboratory space 92,802 Square feet
Healthcare space 20,046 Square feet
Other energy intensive space 135,873 Square feet

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
1,852,893 Gross square feet

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.00 MtCO2e per square foot

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

The Central Plant has made continuous efforts to support cutting edge energy efficiency technologies and retrofits, which has helped to stem energy consumption despite a growing campus population and increased demand for heating and cooling. It has also continually upgraded its equipment to support a general trend towards electrification as opposed to the use of natural gas in its long term equipment assets.
