In 2018, President Parham distributed $10,000 towards the first Toro Green Initiative Fund (TGIF), allowing CSUDH students to suggest sustainability projects for the campus.

In the 2020-2021 fiscal year, this fund became annual and a permanent budget line item under the Office of Sustainability.

Chartered members of the University Sustainability Committee (which represents all areas of the university) vote on the merits of the student project applications submitted. Top scoring projects are funded.
