A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :

Review of 2017-2018 course catalog to identify sustainability courses or courses that integrated sustainability based on the course description. Courses that described teaching the relationship between humans and the environment in an anthropomorphic context was counted. Course descriptions that discussed sustainable development topics (i.e. climate change, transportation, urban development, reducing fuel use, etc.) were also included.

Also manually added courses that actively partnered with the Office of Sustainability to infuse sustainability into the syllabus and those faculty that indicated they were doing so even though the course descriptions did not explicitly include these activities.
