The Title IX & Inclusion (T9I) office is a cross-divisional expert resource responsible for cultivating and sustaining an inclusive, safe learning and working environment on campus to ensure the equitable access necessary for all to thrive in our educational programs and beyond. The office is charged with advancing and managing the campus’s diversity and equity initiatives, including those related to campus compliance with the Title IX Educational Amendments of 1972. In leading the development and administration of new comprehensive inclusion programs, the office addresses all reported matters related to equity and nondiscrimination, facilitates community engagement and education on issues of social justice and diversity, develops policy that furthers the true meaning of being an “inclusive” University, and builds campus capacity for effective sexual violence prevention and response. In so doing, the office strategically aligns the campus’s goals and objectives with all federal and state non-discrimination requirements and laws and aims to promote a greater sense of belonging for students, faculty and staff who bring diverse perspectives to the University.
The President’s Advisory Council on Inclusive Excellence provides a permanent space for conversation with and guidance for the President on matters of equity and justice. Its charge is to advance a culture of excellence, assisting the President in building social justice leadership capacity throughout the university and ensuring that campus dialogue and decisions at every level are rooted in the core values of equity, justice, and inclusivity.
Central to our core values, CSUCI embraces diversity as essential to our identity and to our success throughout the institution, as students, staff, administrators and faculty. The impact we have on the communities and people we serve depends on how well we value, engage and include the rich diversity of all members of our campus community. Our success begins with the premise that inclusion is the sole pathway to educational excellence and that it is the responsibility of the entire community to ensure a sustained focus and ongoing commitment to equity and justice. The Office of the President also has the President’s Advisory Council that helps shape institutional strategy on issues directly related to equity, justice, diversity, and inclusion, including the recommendation of initiatives, policies, and procedures with specific focus on fostering inclusion, advancing a collegial campus environment, and eliminating student equity gaps.

Title IX provided campuswide trainings including the campus reading celebration of Roxane Gay's "Hunger", "Our Bodies, Our Minds" event and Art with Impact, "Safer Sex and Condom Sense", "Walk a Mile In Her Shoes" event, "Coffee & Consent", "Safe Spring Break", and "Coercion Isn't Consent". Additionally Title IX & Inclusion and the Campus Advocate launched Instagram pages increasing prevention education efforts. The Center for Multicultural Engagement (CME) hosted SAFE training workshops for students, faculty, staff, and administrators. CME also holds annual "Art with Impact" films and "Our Bodies Our Minds (OBOM)" workshops to develop coping strategies for those affected by intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
Specific to Title IX, all students developed understanding in gender equity and relationship stereotyping in a mandatory 1 hour module on sexual and relationship violence issues in higher education and learned effective tools to prevent incidents from occurring or escalating. In addition, CSU Systemwide Professional Development provides options for CI employees to expand their job-related learning beyond campus offerings. Faculty and staff have access to a diverse online library with many texts focusing on inclusive excellence in the workplace and higher education and modules that instruct on appropriate response to incidents of bias and how to develop more inclusive practices on the job. Response training for incidents of bias, including sexual violence, are mandatory for all employees effective academic year 2015-2016.
