A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:

Every year CSU Channel Islands conducts a commuting survey of all campus employees, including students. The survey asks respondents to provide information on how far they travel to work, their primary mode of transportation, and their commute habits each day during the previous week. The survey has a 75% minimum response rate. This data was used to calculate the percent of students traveling by each transportation modality and the average distance traveled. Although in past years only student employees were surveyed to represent the student body, all students will be surveyed in the future.
