Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
CSUB Pop-Up Pantry
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The CSUB Food Pantry Coordinator and Edible Garden Coordinator have partnered with Kaiser Permanente and the AppleCore Project to receive unsold produce from the Farmers Market sited at Kaiser Permanente less than 1/4 mile from the campus. The produce supplies a “Pop-Up Pantry” on campus in conjunction with the campus Food Pantry.
CSUB Food Pantry users have inquired about adding fresh fruits and vegetables to our current offerings. Keeping that feedback in mind, the Pop-Up Produce Pantry weekly provides the more nutritious choices to our pantry users. The Pop-Up Produce Pantry is operated by the food pantry coordinator, graduate student leaders, and volunteers and will be modeled after the proven success of the CSUB Food Pantry’s daily operations.
