A brief description of active student groups focused on sustainability:

The PoweSave Campus Program at Cal Poly Pomona works to reduce energy use on campus through a student-led campaign directed at other students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community. It focuses both on education and on specific projects on campus to change behaviors and "to demonstrate how energy and sustainability are integral to our society."

The Green Team is a student club that aims to infuse environmental awareness around campus and advocate for a more environmentally friendly Cal Poly Pomona. They hold events regularly, such as film viewings, Earth Week programming, guest speaker forums, and community dinners.

All of the Lyle Center's gardens are fully organic, meaning that chemical pesticides and fertilizers are not used. The successful organic gardens work with natural processes to enhance the soil and control pests, two activities commonly managed with chemicals in modern agricultural operations.

In addition, the Collins College of Hospitality Management and the College of Agriculture have an interdepartmental garden which provides both food to the student-run Kellogg Restaurant and hands-on experience to students in designing and working in local sustainable farming.

The Cal Poly Pomona Bicycle Repair Shop

The Cal Poly Pomona Cycling Club operates a FREE bicycle repair shop on campus. THE SHOP, which it is commonly known as by students, is located in Campus Marketplace (Building 97). THE SHOP hours vary each quarter and is entirely managed and operated by students for the general campus.

The Green Initiative Fund seeks to enable and empower Cal Poly Pomona students to take an active leadership role in making sustainable practices that would encourage environmental awareness and increase sustainability on campus. These projects must be involved with an Associated Students, Inc. affiliated student organization on campus.

Cal Poly Pomona has hosted Earth Day festivities for many years, and expanded to a full Earth Week in recent years. The campus has brought in many notable speakers to present all aspects of sustainability, including climate change, the economy, and social equity.

Cal Poly Pomona Associated Students, Inc. Campus Recreation provides its student population with Outdoor Programs. Student sustainability technical assistants are hired to support the growing efforts and digital presence of on-campus sustainability. Students work under the campus' sustainability coordinator. Some tasks include managing the Bronco Energy Competition, posting content to sustainability focused social media platforms, and compiling sustainability course guides.
