A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:

CPP Sustainability student assistants work closely with faculty, staff, students, and administrators to promote energy and water efficiency. Activities include electricity and water saving competitions between residence halls, tabling events, planning the implementation of new sustainable features on campus, and publishing of a quarterly newsletter.

On-campus recruitment for students in a variety of academic programs (not limited to any particular program of study). Qualified applicants are selected for interviews with Monika Kamboures the campus Sustainability Coordinator.


A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:

One of the main qualities desired for Student Assistants is that they have effective communication skills. They spend a lot of time reaching out to campus faculty and staff regarding potential events and must know how to engage the student body.


A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or faculty/staff coordination):

Student Assistants collaborate with many stakeholders across the campus, including the Manager of Energy Services, who provides guidance, technical support, and institutional knowlegde for the interns as they work on campus projects.
As various projects come up, the assistants work with additional stakeholders, such as housing, parking/ transportation services, and academic affairs.

ASI Sustainability Task Force

ASI (Associated Students Incorporated) Sustainability Task Force advances environmental sustainability in all ASI facilities, including the Bronco Student Center as well as promoting sustainable practices in all student clubs and student led programs.


A brief description of how the student educators are selected (2nd program):

The task force is led by the Secretary of Sustainability, which is a position appointed by the ASI Student Governmental body. Task Force members consist of volunteer students primarily from environmental clubs and selected faculty and staff advisors. Participants are selected based on their environmental knowledge, passion and programming experience.


A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach (2nd program):

Participants receive training via educational sessions offered at Task Force meetings. In addition additional resources are available for Task Force members to participate in workshops, conferences, or other educational opportunities.


A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or faculty/staff coordination) (2nd program):

Staff support is provided by professional members of ASI. Student fees support the work of the Task Force. In addition, faculty and staff serve as voluntary advisors to the Task Force.

Residential Life Student Staff lead ongoing initiatives and programming opportunities for all on-campus residents. Activities and programming include gardening, recycling education, and sustainable living skills.

ResLife Student staff apply for annual positions and are selected based on their programming and leaderships skills.

Student Staff participate in a 4 week training intensive that includes environmental sustainability as well as programming and leadership development.

Student ResLife staff are supported by ResLife Professional staff as well as voluntary support from other campus entities including the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies, ASI, the Climate Task Force and Green Campus Programs.
