A quarterly survey is administered to department chairs asking them to identify courses with sustainability focus or sustainability offerings. These results are published in a quarterly Sustainability Course Guide and published for students.

The courses included in the Sustainability Course Guide include related and focused courses approved by the department. The figures in Part 1 came from courses deemed sustainable based on an more general definition. For instance there may be a course that would be considered sustainability in terms of social justice and therefor included within the count of courses.
