A brief description of the program, policy, or practice:
University Housing Services has offered gender neutral accommodations in the past whenever a need has arisen and provided a space for individuals. In Fall 2010 UHS started offering a programmatic and educational Gender Neutral Living community. Gender Neutral living is a community in which we are allowing individuals of all genders to live together. In particular, this community strives to provide a safe, positive, and supportive living environment for those that identify as transgender, gender queer, gender non-conforming, or an ally to this community. Students go through a screening process to ensure that they will be a positively contributing member to this community. Student leaders in this community are Safe Zone certified and do some of their educational programming around gender identity and transgender topics. Foundation Housing Services also offers gender neutral housing as part of its portfolio.
