A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive experience(s) offered by the institution:
The Lyle Center offers a unique Master of Science degree in Regenerative Studies (MSRS) that prepares students to find successful solutions to environmental problems in the 21st century. The program prepares graduates for Ph.D. programs in environmental fields, or professional careers in public agencies and private non-profit organization, and in business, education, environmental design, engineering, planning, resource management, and other related fields. A key feature of the program is its focus on integrating disciplinary knowledge from a variety of university programs - environmental design, physical sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, business and agriculture - into multidisciplinary approaches to research and practice. The MSRS program emphasizes the application of this multidisciplinary knowledge in the interest of advancing sustainability. The program features a core set of courses intended to ground students in concepts of regeneration, but the Master’s thesis or project serves as the primary mechanism for in-depth investigation.  Students completing the program have an understanding of integrated problem-solving strategies in relation to environmental problems. They are able to conduct research and manage projects that have practical outcomes. Students also develop abilities to communicate and collaborate across disciplinary and professional boundaries while gaining specialized knowledge in the discipline of their choosing. The John T. Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies is an active research and demonstration laboratory in which coursework and experimentation are conducted.
