Has the institution conducted a GHG emissions inventory within the previous three years that includes all Scope 1 and 2 emissions? :
Yes

A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:

The Poly CAP team used the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLIE) Method with adjustments for a university campus analysis.

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:

The GHG emissions inventory was reviewed and analyzed by our Climate Action Plan consulting team.

Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
---

Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
Weight in MTCO2e
Stationary combustion 11,732 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) 2,750 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
14,482 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year (market-based):
Weight in MTCO2e
Imported electricity 1,668 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year:
1,668 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross GHG emissions from biogenic sources, performance year:
0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Does the GHG emissions inventory include Scope 3 emissions from the following sources?:
Yes or No Weight in MTCO2e
Business travel Yes 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Commuting Yes 12,854.20 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Purchased goods and services --- ---
Capital goods --- ---
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 --- ---
Waste generated in operations Yes 547 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources --- ---

Total Scope 3 GHG emissions, performance year:
13,401.20 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:

The CSU keep track of business travel through the Concur Software platform. The platform provides detail reports on traveled miles and the carbon emissions amount per each travel transaction.

Cal Poly hired a transportation engineer professor and student assistants to conduct a VMT study to determine commuter carbon emissions.

Cal Poly Waste provider, San Luis Garbage, provides monthly tonnage data for all trash picked up from the campus. They also log the number of trips to and from campus. This data was then used to determine the carbon emissions.

Has the institution completed an inventory within the previous three years to quantify its air pollutant emissions?:
Yes

Annual weight of emissions for::
Weight of Emissions
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) 1.42 Tons
Sulfur oxides (SOx) 6.81 Tons
Carbon monoxide (CO) 2.43 Tons
Particulate matter (PM) 114.60 Tons
Ozone (O3) 0 Tons
Lead (Pb) 0.00 Tons
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) 0.80 Tons
Ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) 0 Tons
Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations 1.37 Tons

Do the air pollutant emissions figures provided include the following sources?:
Yes or No
Major stationary sources Yes
Area sources Yes
Mobile sources No
Commuting No
Off-site electricity production No

A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:

"Air toxins are regulated by the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) and California Air Resources Board (CARB). The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District maintains an air pollution emissions inventory using the Hot Spots Analysis and Reporting Program (HARP) emissions inventory module (EIM) for the County with some data collected from the California Air Resources Board (ARB). The air pollutants tracked by this inventory are known as ‘criteria pollutants’. Criteria pollutants include: Total Organic Gases (TOG) including its more reactive subset volatile organic gases (VOC), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of sulfur (SOx) and particulate matter (PM). Sources of air pollution are grouped into the major categories of: stationary, mobile, area-wide and natural sources.
