Is the institution currently designated as a Fair Trade College or University?:
Yes
A brief description of the institution’s Fair Trade initiatives, including the year formal designation was achieved and/or renewed:
Through Net Impact’s efforts, Cal Poly became the first California State University (CSU) to join the 54 Fair Trade recognized universities in the United States. Working with the organization Fair Trade Campaigns, College of Business student Jenny Hoekstra and her team followed a five-step process to become Fair Trade recognized. The last step was developing and getting a Fair Trade Resolution approved, which went through Campus Dining, the Office of Administration and the head of every department on campus. It was signed by President Jeffrey Armstrong on Dec. 11.
The process of becoming designated as a Fair Trade campus also included raising awareness, educating the campus on fair trade and making sure fair trade products were available on campus.
