A brief description of the key components of the custom OHSMS:
Cairo University values environmental stewardship and is committed to workplace health and safety. To achieve this goal, an integrated environmental, health, and safety management system was established. A management system is a tried-and-true framework for administering and improving an organization's rules, procedures, and processes.CU similar to the other Egyptian Universities operates a devolved safety management system to ensure at a minimum that the University and its staff are in compliance with the Labor Law No. 12 of 2003.
- Each faculty and institute of CU get ISO 45001\018 which is an international standard for health and safety at work
Cairo University established Occupational safety and health unit in each faculty and institute to:
1- Spreading the culture of crisis management and educating faculty, staff and students about its dangers and ways to deal with them if they occur.
2- Good planning to take preventive measures to protect the college from potential disasters and crises.
3- Develop strategies to confront crises if they occur in one of the college’s facilities.
4- Study periodic reports that deal with crises and disasters and ways to overcome them and how take advantage of it.
5- Predicting possible crises that may occur on college campuses and identifying mechanisms to prevent them
